[NEWSBITS] Yoo Ah In Confirms for Jang Ok Jung, Twitter Update 2013.01.04 & Admitted to Hospital!

Wow! Today seems a whole lot of things happened in a split second around Yoo Ah In! I didn’t know where to start so I decided to make them as the newsbits post for the weekend ^_^ Yes, I’m a sucker for updates. Let’s get it on!

Yoo Ah In was online on 4th January 2013 at 7.52-7.55 am KST and posted a photo with short messages.

Translations:

“Busan Morning”

“Introduction to sleep. And I will sleep. Good Morning!”

My Busan friend Shineeson said, judging from the picture, Yoo Ah In probably took the photo from Songdo Beach in Busan from his hotel room’s window.

Now the shocking part is, apparently Yoo Ah In had been sick since New Year’s eve! And now he’s in recovery and taking rest in Busan for a while. Thus, explains his tweet about sleep.

News Sport Seoul reported earlier today:

Yoo Ah In Had Been Admitting to Hospital for 2 Days.

Yoo Ah In has been filming Kangchulie (Tin Can) in Haeundae Beach, Busan, since last December. But the harsh weather with series of heavy snow and bitter cold on the beach has taken its toll on Yoo Ah In’s health condition.

According to the film staff, Yoo Ah In spent the new year’s eve in the hospital. “Yoo Ah In spent these past 2 days in the hospital since new year’s eve due to suffer from fatigue and extreme cold fever,” staff said yesterday. “He was always in a big fighting spirit to focus on the filming but his body has a limit.”

Currently staying in Busan for recovery, Yoo Ah In received a big amount of supports from acquaintances and fans through twitter and other social media. He also uploaded a photo of the view from his window’s room to twitter today.

Oh poor Sik 😦 Shooting in a severe harsh winter on the beach, not to mention spending every weekend for fansign events that located far from Busan and always in one-day trip, I can see how that affected his condition much. I heard Kangchulie almost finishes the shooting, so I hope he gets enough rest before hitting another project. Get well soon, Master Sik! Let’s pray for his fast recovery, everyone 🙂

Meanwhile, another excited news came around and caused a buzz on the net: Yoo Ah In will join drama ‘Jang Ok Jung, Living By Love” this year with Kim Tae Hee!

YAI-KTH_feature

This made me a little crazy because the news changed by minute! Somehow I feel it’s funny that something “unconfirmed” can change to “maybe” and then “confirmed” in a matter of hours 😀

At first, this morning the news said that Yoo Ah In received the love call from SBS to opposite Kim Tae-hee as her leading man in ‘Jang Ok Jeong Living By Love’ as King Sook Jong! Yoo Ah In agency stated that it’s true that they have received an offer but decision has not yet finalized, and that Yoo Ah In was still reviewing the script carefully. Overall, they had positive consideration towards the offer.

And less than two hours later, the news broke that Yoo Ah In has agreed to take the role, thus confirmed the lead actor position! Although Big Bang‘s TOP was also considered for the role, Yoo Ah In has been chosen in the end.

This drama is based on the novel that re-highlights the character of Jang Hee-bin, a real existing person. But according to Dramabeansit’ll reinterpret the familiar story and characters by incorporating a “modern flair”.

Jang Hee-bin or Lady Jang Hui Bin is one of the best known royal concubines of the Joseon Dynasty (17th century). Her personal name is Jang Ok Jeong. King Suk Jong made her his concubine with the title of suk-won. And in 1688 was elevated to the rank of hui-bin after giving birth to a son (the future King Gyeongjong). When Queen In-hyun was deposed & forced into exile in May 1688, Jang hui-bin became Sukjong’s third Queen Consort, and her son was made the Crown Prince. Later, Jang hui-bin was discovered by Sukjong in her chambers scheming a murder for Inhyun and then sentenced to death by poisoning. Oh that sounds tragic!

King Sukjong was a brilliant politician, but his reign was marked by some of the most intense factional fights in Joseon dynasty. Sukjong frequently replaced faction in power with another one to strengthen the royal authority and it led to executions and exiles. Nevertheless, the chaotic changes of government did not affect the general populace significantly, and his reign is considered one of more prosperous times.

‘Jang Ok Jung Lives For Love’, also known as  ‘Jang Ok Jung Living By Love” (tentative title) is scheduled to start shooting on January and plans to air on March 18th following ‘Yawang’ with a total 24 episodes.

I’m so so excited thinking that Sik will be in Saeguk again! A little hope for the comeback of the mane of glory, although Joseon Kings don’t show their long hair off thanks to the royal topknot *pouts*. I’m also curious with how Sik will portray the King of Suk Jong. Jang Ok Jung will be Yoo Ah In’s third saeguk but also his first based on a true story. In addition to that, acting as king would be something new for him.

From a silky haired assassin in Strongest Chilwoo to a beautiful Red Messanger Moon Jae Shin in Sungkyunkwan Scandal to a Joseon King. That’s what I call leveling up. Ha!

Kim Tae Hee is 6 years older than Yoo Ah In but I think she can pull the age gap off because she looks younger than her age. My only concern is her acting. But let’s just wait and see ^ ^

Meanwhile, let’s enjoy a video made by fan in 2011 when Kim Tae Hee’s drama ‘My Princes’ aired. It’s a “mashed-up” video of Yoo Ah In in ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ with Kim Tae Hee in ‘My Princess’ drama. I think the moment the creator of this video read the news about them, she/he was smiling ear to ear because her fantasy came true ^___^

Happy weekend!

“After much buzz about the possibility of Yoo Ah In assuming a role in the drama, officials from Yoo Ah In’s agency released this statement to My Daily on January 4, “Yoo Ah In has received the script from the writers and is looking over it right now. No final decision has been made, but he is looking over it in a positive light.”

So it is not finally confirmed.

  4. JANG says:

Sigh…I just watched Episode 12 … Kim Tae Hee’s transition was a bit abrupt and … unnatural … she failed to show her inner struggle, the mixed feelings internally to herself and to the King. Rather, she suddenly only has HATE … well, we understand why she has hate…but still, it deflavors the show by a tad … I dont feel the complexity of this character, and the depth was lost … oh well … it gets boring now because the character is back on traditional track …
