Secret Love Affair Jukebox: The Scores Yoo Ah In Plays on Episode 6-8

Here we are again in Secret Love Affair Jukebox for enjoying the beauty of classical performance that Yoo Ah In plays during episode 6 to 8 (well, not really for episode 6, since he doesn’t play the piano there :p ). We’ve had posted his videos playing the piano from the previous episodes here and here as well.

Before hitting on the notes, I notice that some of you are asking about the title of the music plays at the beginning and the end of the drama. From what I gather, it is the OST of Secret Love Affair itself. Arranged/composed by Secret Love Affair Music Director Lee Nam Yeon, the title of the opening and ending score is “The Window Composition”. Here’s the video~

Secret Love Affair Opening

Now, there are only 2 scores that Yoo Ah In aka Lee Seon Jae plays during episode 6 to 8. One of them is Listz Spanish Rhapsody S.254 that he performs during the college audition in a breathtaking performance. It’s one powerful and beautiful piece.

Lee Seon Jae says that he is inspired by Korea’s renown classical pianist Son Yeol Eum, who performed this piece in The International Tchaikovsky Competition 2011.

The other one is Rachmaninoff Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini, in which Yoo Ah In & Kim Hee Ae play five out of 24 variations together.

Liszt Spanish Rhapsody S.254, R.90

(In this scene, they are listening to Lee Seon Jae’s recorded piece)

Liszt Spanish Rhapsody S.254, R.90

(In this scene, Yoo Ah In plays for the college entrance audition)

The piece is very suggestive of traditional Spanish music. It contains many technical challenges, including rapid chords and octaves.

Rachmaninoff Rhapsody On A Theme Of Paganini Op.43

The piece is a concertante work written by Sergei Rachmaninoff. It is written for solo piano and symphony orchestra, closely resembling a piano concerto.  The piece is a set of 24 variations.

In this scene, Yoo Ah In and Kim Hee Ae plays:

Introduction: Allegro vivace

Variation 2: L’istesso tempo

Variation 8: Tempo I

Variation 9: L’istesso tempo

Variation 18: Andante cantabile (D flat major)

Variation 24: A tempo un poco meno mosso

Hello and thanks for your great efforts and hard work put in this site!
I was just wondering if you would know the title of the piece that Seon Jae played for Hae Won at the end of episode 8 where Hae Won was lying on his bed. Thanks again!

Actually it’s the OST of the drama itself, But unfortunately I don’t know the title yet. AFAIK all the OST (minus the classical music scores) are arranged/composed by Music Director Lee Nam Yeon

  4. thanks for putting those posts together! you said that the music during the opening and closing is “The Window Composition” but there is a different piece at the end, it starts when the last frame freezes and it’s a pretty dramatic piano/orchestra piece. any ideas what it might be? it doesn’t sound like a classical piece, probably OST

Hello~ You’re right, now that I just watched the last part again, the opening and the closing are different songs. I’m sorry! And yes, the closing is the OST too. AFAIK all the OST (minus the classical music scores) are arranged/composed by Music Director Lee Nam Yeon. I hope the drama will release the OST soon so that we’ll know all these great music titles!
