Yoo Ah In Self-designed Shirt is Stars Fave, Selling Like Hot Cakes
We’ve learned how our fashionista Yoo Ah In designed the shirt for Nohant sub-brand Newkidz with theme “Love City”, and now we found out that apparently the power of his star and Secret Love Affair made this shirt the new “IT” in town.
Even though the drama has ended almost a month ago, TV people still love making the parody and raking the ratings out of it. Case in point: KBS Gag Concert 140601 episode~
Lee Hyori, Baek Ji Young, Lee Young Jin and some other celebrities join the wagon of the “Love City” fans by posting their photos wearing the shirt in their SNS.
On May 30, singer Baek Ji Young posed in her NEㅠYORK tee inside KBS2 FM Radio. Actress Lee Young Jin showed off her summer NEㅠYORK tee on the 1st June in her instagram, and commented “pretty New York”.
Also on the 1st June, Lee Hyori tweeted a photo of her and husband Lee Sang Sun posing with their “Love City” couple shirts. Lee Hyori was wearing MIㄹANO, while hubby TOㅋYO. She revealed that the shirts were sent by Yoo Ah In himself. Wow!
She thanked Yoo Ah In by mentioning Lee Seon Jae, his character in Secret Love Affair. Lee Hyori admitted recently that she became a fan of Yoo Ah In after watching Secret Love Affair, she even wanted him to guest in her talkshow 😀

Joongang reported. The power of Yoo Ah In brought the Newkidz shirt to a big number of 200 million Won sales in short time.
The Nohant Newkidz pop-up store (short-term temporary store) opened on the 7th floor of Hyundai Department Store Trade Center from March 16 to 25.
According to the official of Hyundai Department Store, during that period many women costumers in their early 30s to 50s flocked the Nohant pop-up store to buy Yoo Ah In’s self-designed t-shirt.
“While the other pop-up stores on the same floor made around 20 to 30 million sales (in KRW), Yoo Ah In’s tee reached a big hit as it crossed a whopping 200 million marks in ten days, which is ten times higher than normal. In comparison, the other brands in this store need one month to reach two to three times amount of sales.”
Hyundai Department Head of Men’s Wear noted that Yoo Ah In’s role as a genius pianist in the hit series Secret Love Affair helped gather the popularity of the store. “Many costumers purchased more than 10 pieces all at once. Hundreds of people were out of stock that they had to order the shirts in advance and bought them separately.”
It’s absolutely no small feat. According to the official, Newkidz “Love City” was a hit because of the unique collaboration of Hangul and English lettering in the design, as well as an affordable price (KRW 58,000) for a popular designer’s shirt.
All proceeds from the sales of the shirts will be given to the ‘Beautiful Foundation’ which supports the underprivileged children.
