Song Kang Ho and Yoo Ah In‘s historical movie The Throne (Sado) tops the box office on its début by occupying number 1 slot in all booking sites, September 16.

According to Korean Film Council (KOFIC) integrated computer network, within 24 hours The Throne hit first place in all theater sites and advance booking sites.

The Throne took over the first place from Ant-man with 55.3% advance ticket sales as of September 15, 9 p.m KST ahead of its opening. This made The Throne the #1 biggest early box office after Veteran.

As of 12 a.m September 16, The Throne garnered 250,243 cumulative attendance, and by 6:30 a.m September 17 The Throne has gathered 264,705 admissions, or earned 54% attendance in all cinemas nationwide.

Meanwhile, Yoo Ah In’s summer mega hit ‪Veteran‬ is still going strong by sitting on number 3 at the Top Box Office with 12,608,934 cumulative attendance. This means Yoo Ah In has two movies at the top box office at the same period of time! Superb!😀

Top Box Office

The Throne achieved the feat of breaking the record of the highest score in the opening day of historical films, including Director Lee’s earlier work The King And The Clown (159,832 in 2005) and Lee Byung Hun’s Masquerade (169,516 in 2013).

On the current Naver Movie scores, the overall audience gives 8.07 point, movie critics 7.65 point, and overall users score is 8.36 point out of 10. The Throne also bagged 4 Stars from the movie critics.

It’s highly expected that The Throne is coming off a stunningly large opening weekend, especially on the Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) holidays.

The Throne‘s actors Song Kang Ho, Yoo Ah In, and Jeon Hye Jin will hold the Stage Greeting events in Yoo Ah In’s hometown Daegu and Busan from September 19 to 20, 2015.
