[PHOTOS & VIDEO] Yoo Ah In Wins Asia Star Award at Busan International Film Festival

Yoo Ah In won Asia star of the year at ‘The 20th BIFF with Marie Claire Asia Star Awards’ on October 3rd.

Busan International Film Festival organizers paired up with Marie Claire magazine for the Asia Star Award given to movie talent that has wowed Asia this year.

The global awards ceremony is held to appreciate best movie people and actors that receives attention in Asia film world.

CJ Entertainment stated, “Yoo Ah In acted as Jo Tae Oh in movie Veteran, the hottest film in Korea this year, being acknowledged as the actor who showed best work on the screen.”

Some stars, directors and producers from around Asia attended the ceremony including Yoon Kye Sang, Kim Na Young, Park Gyu Ri, Kim Jae Wook, Choi Woo Shik, Cho Jae Hyun, Ye Ji Won, Baek Seung Hyun, Seo Jun Yeong, Chae Jung An, Chinese actor Bolin Chen, and more.

Actor of the Year Award: Lee Jung Jae, with his box office movie Assassination
Female Asia Star Award: Chinese actress Liu Shishi
Male Asia Star Award: Chinese actor Bolin Chen
Rising Star Award: Kang Soo Yeon
Achievement Award: a special award given to Hong Kong producer Shin Hansun for her outstanding achievements and contribution to Asian cinema
Rising Director Award: Director Mozez Singh from India

In his short speech, Yoo Ah In said thank you and humbly added, “I’m not a big star yet, but I will work hard to become Asia’s big star in the future.” Here’s the clip~

Yoo Ah In was also in Busan to promote both his movies; Veteran and The Throne. Veteran was selected for BIFF’s “Korean Cinema Today” section.

Besides attending the Asia Star Awards, Yoo Ah In participated in the Korean Film Reporters Association (KFRA) Open Talk and BIFF Village Open Talk in Haeundae Beach, Busan at the same day, Oct 3rd. He drew massive crowd everywhere he went, with over five thousands people attending his open talk events. Whoa~ kewl!

Yoo Ah In also attended the Veteran Meet&Greet With Audience event on October 4th in CGV Centum City, Busan.
