[PHOTOS, VIDEOS & TRANSLATIONS] Yoo Ah In Wins Best Actor At The 2016 Chunsa Film Art Awards

Another award for Yoo Ah In’s acting in 2016 πŸ˜€

Yoo Ah In won Best Actor at the 21st Chunsa Film Art Awards!

It was reported early last month that Yoo Ah In was up for Best Actor Award against his remarkable seniors, such as Lee Byung Hun, Choi Min Shik, Ahn Sung Ki and Jung Jae Young at the Chunsa Na Woon Kyu Film Art Awards (also known as Chunsa Film Art Awards or Chunsa Film Awards).

The winners of Chunsa Film Art Awards were finally announced on April 5. Yoo Ah In beat his seniors, and won this year’s Best Actor for his performance as the Crown Prince Sado in “The Throne” (“Sado”).

The 21st Chunsa Na Woon Kyu Film Art Awards is a nonprofit competition award organized by the Korean Film Directors’ Association. It takes its name from a pen name of a passionate early Korean actor and filmmaker from the silent film era, Na Woon Gyu, who had a fighting spirit toward his life.

The competition is not through application registration system. Five film critics (Kim Jong Won, Cho Hye Jeong, Kim Yeong Jin, Kang Yoo Jeong, Nam Dong Cheol) nominate candidates and the judging committee comprised of active directors choose the final award winners.

“The Throne” and “Assassination” dominated the winners list by taking home 2 awards each. “The Throne” won Best Actor (Yoo Ah In) and Best Original Screenplay prizes. In addition, “The Throne” director, Lee Jun Ik, is awarded Special Contribution Award.

The Chunsa Film Art Awards ceremony was held at COEX Auditorium in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on April 5. Yoo Ah In dressed up to the nine in Burberry Prorsum, a brand he’s been endorsing since 2014, and he sported new haircut. He looked sooo young and adorable!

This is another nice award acceptance speech by Yoo Ah In at the ceremony night (translated by Admin M – YAI International Fans Community):

“I feel honored to be here with these great senior actors. I don’t think I got this award because I have amazing acting skill. I would like to thank director Lee Joon Ik in front of me, who has supported me and created this opportunity for me. I will not back down or fear, and will firmly seize the opportunity to express my passion for acting.

Since my acceptance speeches often stirred controversies, I have to choose what words to say, so I’m a bit worried. Today, I would like to say this; I started acting as a young actor a long time ago. I hope there will be more young actors and actresses given the opportunity to stand on this stage too. I’m looking forward to seeing young actors having a vital position in the future film industry. In the mean time, I hope to meet the good junior actors as well. Thank you.”

With this award, Yoo Ah In has won Best Actor three times for the film “The Throne”, following the 2015 Blue Dragon Awards and 2016 Korean Film Reporters Association Awards. This could be Yoo Ah In’s last award before heading to the military service. So, it means a lot to him and us!

Let’s check out some videos and fancams/clips of Yoo Ah In at the red carpet and award ceremony that night~

All these awards for this movie, I really need to see this movie! Actually, I overall wanted to see Sado more over than I wanted to see veteran when I compared both movie trailers and it helps I’m a historical drama fan so it only makes me more excited to see it, if I can actually find it :/
