More good news for our Master Sik before his active duty 😀
Yoo Ah In will be honored with The Prime Minister’s Award from the 2016 Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards.
“The Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards”, which is jointly organized by the South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), were created to recognize the accomplishments of artists who make a positive impact on the popular culture and arts of Korea. It is a government rewards program that aims to elevate the status of popular culture artists and continue to encourage them in their work. Artists are honored with several titles including the Culture Medal (Order of Merit), the Presidential Citation (President’s Award), as well as awards from the Prime Minister and Cultural Minister. Honorees are selected from a pool of 30 candidates, in five categories, including an award from the Korean Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).
Unlike other awards, the awardees are announced before the ceremony, and the list has come out yesterday, October 18th by the South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports And Tourism (Minister Cho Yoon Sun).
Yoo Ah In, along with actor Joo Jin Woong and Hwang Jung Eum, will receive the Prime Minister’s Award. According to a report published by Newsen, the three stars are confirmed honorees at a ceremony that will be attended by some of the hottest stars in Korean entertainment.
Yoo Ah In is honored the Prime Minister’s Award for making strong impact and contribution to the Korea’s pop culture, arts and society, through his acting works and his artistic activities with ‘Studio Concrete’ artist group.
Yoo Ah In has been working in the diversed filmography since his debut in 2003. In 2015 he created the “Ainshidae” (“Ah In Generation”) craze. He mobilized over 19.5 million viewers to the cinemas through the movies ‘Veteran’ and ‘Sado’ (‘The Throne’) in a span of three months, followed by the hit series ‘Six Flying Dragons’. He was awarded a whopping 14 acting awards in both movies and dramas during October 2015 to October 2016, including the Next Generation Award from “The Oscars of Asia” The Asian Film Awards. Both movies ‘Veteran’ and ‘Sado’ nabbed local and international awards, and ‘Six Flying Dragons’ received the Best Series prizes as well.
Not only does he shows his acting skills through the screen, Yoo Ah In also channels his artistic sensitivity through his own studio; “Studio Concrete”. The studio, consisted of a young artist group with Yoo Ah In as the founder and CEO, has introduced local budding artists to Korean society through various exhibitions and arts performance. The latest Studio Concrete exhibition introduced the public of Korea to a famous French illustrator Jean Jullien. The studio created two trendy fashion brands “1TO10 Series” and “CCRT-AEROSPACE”, and contributes to society by holding some regular charity events too.
In addition to that, Yoo Ah In actively supports the youth and cultural program. Through his “New Kids Charity Fund” account, Yoo Ah In regularly donates The Supporting Business for Youth Cultural Activities, a program from The Beautiful Foundation that provides opportunities to experience diverse activities for adolescents in culturally estranged environments. The fund is used to provide aid for college tuition and educational expenses for the students who attend college while living in or after retiring from residential care centers.
