Yet another recognition for the best sageuk “Six Flying Dragons” 🙂
The 2016 Tokyo Drama Awards announced the winners for this year’s international competition.
After bagging home Best Drama award at The 43rd Korea Broadcasting Awards and The Golden Bird Prize/Top Excellence Drama at the Seoul International Drama Awards last September, SBS “Six Flying Dragons” won the Special Prize For Foreign Drama (Best Foreign Drama) at the 9th Tokyo Drama Awards.

The winners are selected firstly by members of the All Nippon Producers Association, then selected by the “screening committee” consisting of newspaper publishers and broadcasters, and finally selected by the “Competition Jury” consisting of key figures. In order to achieve further global exposure of the nominated programs, the awards’ judging criteria place emphasis on “marketability” and “merchantability” besides the “artistry” or “show quality” aspects. Additionally, the “Special Award” to the excellent dramas from abroad for better cultural understanding and business partnerships.
The 2016 Tokyo Drama Awards was broadcast on BS SKY Perfect TV in Japan and WAKUWAKU Japan TV on November 7th.
In addition to the awards, “Six Flying Dragons” already released the DVD for rent and sale since November 2nd (see details here) with title “Roots of The Throne”, while Yoo Ah In has been interviewed by Japan Navicon during the drama promotion in September (read here).
