Yoo Ah In & Studio Concrete Release Art Film CCRT Aerospace Episode 1: “Fragile” & Hold Exhibition

After introducing the snippets of an art film called “CCRT Aerospace” in the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), Yoo Ah In and his Studio Concrete held an exhibition called “CCRT Aerospace: The Other Side” and launched the CCRT Aerospace Episode 1: “Fragile” art film.

Yoo Ah In collaborated with “Bleak Night” award-winning director Yoon Sung Hyun for this art film. The full prologue episode “FRAGILE: HANDLE WITH CARE OR” by CCRT Aerospace premiered in the exhibition’s private opening, Dec 9th.

The “fragile tag” that warns against the handling of baggage in air travel expresses “the earth crisis”. Yoo Ah In participated in the 10-minute film as the general planner, creative director and as the main star. In addition, director Yoon Sung Hyun took a large role in filming the video.

“CCRT Aerospace: The Other Side” opens from December 10th to 31th. The Other Side exhibits artists’ interpretations based on imaginations about ‘space’, which represents infinity, in diverse ways; such as film, paintings, photography, graphic design, performance, and music.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
The Other Side features a rich collaboration with Gayageum and Sanjo maestro Hwang Byung Ki (read about Yoo Ah In and his photoshoot for Vogue here), diretor Yoon Sang Hyun, artist Kwon Chul Hwa, photographer Kim Jae Hoon, artist Casper Kang, Sam, and Park Si Young.

CCRT Aerospace episode 1 “Fragile” premiered in the exhibition’s private opening as well. As you can see from Studio Concrete instagram account, director Yoon gives his forewords to the art film:

“Space as a theme may seem rather reckless, but it is also important to note that Korea has no distinguishable Sci-fi film of its own. I wanted to take this opportunity to take a new approach, to freely explore the ideas of the future and outer space without limit. Not to be the ‘like’ the SF film full with technical skills, I tried to make a refined film in standard tactics. A journey from an unknown planet to Earth, the scenario interprets the ‘space travel’ as insuppressible thirst for exploring the new world. As an embodiment of transcendence toward a greater plane of existence, I wanted to describe a future time or society that would in face be a metaphor of the present.”

One of the guests in the exhibition private opening was B.A.P’s leader Bang Yong Guk. He posted Hwang Byung Ki’s performance video and Yoo Ah In’s photo wall from the exhibition in his instagram (he deleted the photo wall several minutes later) with caption “CCRT Aerospace”~

Bang Yong Guk posed with UAA staff, and we can see Yoo Ah In on the background smiling ^^

  1. yosics says:

I thought the first episode tells a story about many people from other planet (aliens?) who come to earth? Because you can clearly see in the airport scene it wrotes destination: earth. So it looks like alien invasion to me 😁😂 Thanks for the reports!

  2. Mari says:

I don’t recall any Korean scifi before. If there was none yet, than YAI & CCRT Aerospace made a breakthrough in the K-cinema 👍
