Yoo Ah In News Bits November 1-20, 2017: More “Burning” shooting & fans support story, more music & Boys Can’t Cry project

AINyeong, Sikseekers! November 2017 might be the highest SNS activity month in Yoo Ah In’s social media history. We have written/reported specifically all his November posts related to the “RIP” and “zucchini” ridic issues. So, for this News Bits section, we will just bring up topics other than those two.

So, picking up where we left off, here are the November News Bits part 1!

[Note: Most of the information in the “News Bits” posts are already shared/posted in our Facebook and Twitter, so we advice you readers to follow both of our SNS accounts for the exclusive and freshly updates right from the oven. We have posted some information/his SNS inside our past articles/posts too]

November 1 – The first day of November kicked off with French Cafe Roastery November Calendar and the “spot the difference” contest~

November 2 – After leaving the SJW and their unbelievably nonsense “RIP” issue with his Facebook post, Yoo Ah In continued filming “Burning” in Paju as usual. His co-actor, Steven Yeun himself, took his photo from the film site and posted it in his instagram account, as if telling the fans that this boy is okay. Later on, Yeun deleted the photo~ maybe he was afraid that the photo contained a spoiler^^

PS: Ah In and Steven have followed each other in instagram since October

In the evening, Yoo Ah In attended Studio Concrete “Body Language: The Pleasure of Painting” Exhibition opening party. He and co-director Cha Hae Young gave their artist Kwon Chul Hwa a peck-on-cheek as their congrats! Waiit… was this their literal pun on “pecking at the same time” that he kept talking about? 😀 In this occasion, Yoo Ah In was wearing Studio Concrete’s limited t-shirt design~

Actress Gong Hyo Jin, who’s also Yoo Ah In’s close friend, attended the party~

More friends from the fashion world (including YG model Ellish Ahn) came to the opening as well~

November 4 – Yoo Ah In posted a beautiful sunset photo from his car, presumably after-working hour, without any caption

November 5 – One of the “Burning” cameos shared his photos with supah adorable Yoo Ah In from the film set! It might contain a spoiler, but we can’t help to devour this cutie’s face again~^^ So, yay for the pixies!

In the same day, Yoo Ah In posted a full moon/moonlight photo right from “Burning” film location~

His caption reads:

Tuning

The next thing, he did a live broadcast watching “Han Young Ae – Tuning” Youtube video, and he laughed at the end of the clip. He particularly highlighted the words “Please give us a tuning like the blue sky of ancient days”.

(The original Youtube video that he was watching is this)

Han Young Ae, 60 years old, is a legendary classic rock singer in Korea. Han, who debuted as a theater actress, believes the stage is like a mirror that reflects how she has lived and how she feels, which she says pushes her to improve and move forward (she sounds like a certain someone whom we know, huh?). Making her music début nearly 40 years ago in 1976 as a member of the folk quartet Sunflower, Han has had an illustrious career, both as part of a band and as a solo artist. Often referred to as the “Sound Witch” for her deep and desolate vocals, Han embarked on a solo career in 1986 and has since released five studio albums, the most recent being in 1999.

Here are the English lyrics of “Tuning” (조율, translated by userstk), which are, by the way, veerrrrry similar with Yoo Ah In’s train of thoughts!

The flowers know
That they must bloom come the warm days of May
The migrant birds know
That they must take to the autumn sky come the time

The problem, what is the problem
We were all running hard not knowing where we’re going
Our heart which used to be noble and good
Has closed its eyes to the truth somewhere along the way

My sleeping lord of heaven please wake up now
Please give us a tuning like the blue sky of ancient days

Lovely streams turning thick black reaching the sea
Once soaring blue sky turning gray and murky
They make us wonder about the dear love we strove for
Afraid that it might go the same way

My sleeping lord of heaven please wake up now
Please give us a tuning like the blue sky of ancient days
My sleeping lord of heaven please wake up now
Please give us a tuning like the blue sky of ancient days

If we together turn hatred to love, anger to forgiveness
Isolation to consolation and impulse to patience
The lonely shadowy figures can stop pacing the floor
And share in the peace of mind with one another

My sleeping lord of heaven please wake up now
Please give us a tuning like the blue sky of ancient days

All I want for this land, the heavens, and the children
For them to act out with an open mind tomorrow
What love means

My sleeping lord of heaven please wake up now
Please give us a tuning like the blue sky of ancient days
[repeat 4x]

November 6 – Yoo Ah In was spotted talking enthusiastically with his artist and co-director in Studio Concrete. Although we couldn’t clearly hear what he said, it’s fun seeing him in high spirit, that all the keyboard warriors didn’t affect him at all!

In the same day, Yoo Ah In gifted us with his contagious smiling selfie from “Burning” film location, Paju! Rejoice, Sikseekers!!

His caption says: 🙃

Still in the same day, Yoo Ah In brought “Burning” Director Lee Chang Dong to Studio Concrete’s “Body Language” Exhibition! Woo~hoo! Superb!! They posed together with Studio Concrete’s artist Kwon while looking at the painting~

He wrote the caption:

Boys Can’t Cry

And then, he screencapped both his private and public instagram accounts that have his photo with director Lee!

His caption:

hongsick/uhmhongsik

He posted the same photos too in his Facebook~

This is the first time ever he showed us a bit inside of his private account. Obviously, he was over the moon by Lee Chang Dong’s visit and wanted to show the whole world that he put that one special photo in both accounts without shame 😀

As we’ve said before, Yoo Ah In looks up to director Lee. He admires him, he listens to him, he learns a lot from him and treats him as his teacher, and it seems that he has found his “artistic soulmate” through director Lee. Their relationship turned from a director and an actor to a teacher and a student. And obviously, director Lee is bringing him to another level of acting that he’s been searching for. In GQ December interview, he even used the “pecking at the same time” metaphor to describe their relationship.

November 8 – Yoo Ah In posted an autumn’s sunset photo that looks like a yellow dot. He didn’t write any caption~

In the same day, he posted Studio Concrete’s new t-shirt, designed by his artist Kwon Chul Hwa. The model here is not Yoo Ah In, but a real model~

Again, he put the caption:

Boys can’t cry

Later that night, Yoo Ah In shared a Youtube video from his favorite musician Bon Iver with song “I Can’t Make You Love Me” in his Facebook page. He has posted the same video in his instagram long time ago.

November 9 – Yoo Ah In posted his other fave musician Sister’s Barbershop “The Truth Over 100 Years” guitar/cover performance clip

His caption says:

Feel the feeling #TheTruthOver100Years

Then, he posted the lyrics from The Black Skirts “Team Baby” album from the song “That’s Not Me” (listen to the song here)

The lyric reads:

I didn’t wanna be a star

And he wrote the caption:

That’s right

Not enough of that, he did a live broadcast, playing The Black Skirts – “That’s Not Me” from Team Baby album.  He said in the end of the clip: “Good night. Bye bye!” 🙂 Check his live video out~

Still in November 9, Yoo Ah In posted a cute Hamtaro anime character~

His caption says:

bcc

BCC stands for “Boys Can’t Cry”, his Studio Concrete’s artist new t-shirt design. So, again, he was “introducing” the t-shirt. Not because he was in a sad emo mood, you guys!

November 11 – Yoo Ah In posted Studio Concrete’s Aerospace upcoming clothing line’s new design “Boys Can’t Cry”, and tagged CCRT Aerospace account~

His caption:

#CCRTAerospace #BCC

YOO made us super curious with this new project!

In the same day, Yoo Ah In posted his own personal assistant, Nikolai Ahn, doing his “second” job as a guest-photographer for GQ Korea “Men of the Year” edition. It’s the day when Yoo Ah In was doing the photo session and an interview for GQ Korea, right from “Burning” film location~

His caption reads:

GQ KOREA DECEMBER.🚀

And right after that, he posted the Naver dictionary definition for the words “peck at the same time” in Chinese characters “啐啄同時”

His caption: 🐣

Read his explanation about the meaning of his post in GQ Korea December interview.

November 14 – Yoo Ah In once again bestowed the drool-worthy, gorgeous photoshoot of his from GQ Korea B-cut upon us~

He wrote the caption:

New SICK for GQ coming soon! 🥚🐔🐣🐥

He’s become a better and better self-advertiser nowadays, duncha think? 😀

In the afternoon, Yoo Ah In did a live broadcast on the road again. The music he was playing/listening is “Raingurl” from a Korean-American electronic music artist Yaeji (watch the Youtube version here. Full lyrics here)

He laughed in the middle of the song because he saw a “Kpop Hotel” 😀 Check the video out~

November 16 – Yoo Ah In did another live broadcast from “Burning” film location. He took the beautiful autumn atmosphere of Paju! The song that he was playing is from Gregory Porter – “Holding On”

Following the live broadcast, he posted Meryl Streep’s 2017 Golden Globes Awards speech video in his instagram and Facebook~

His caption:

An actors only job is to enter the lives of people who are different from us and let you feel what that feels like.”

“We have to remind each other of the privilege and the responsibility of the active empathy.”

Take your broken heart, Make it into art!

# Meryl Streep # feel the feeling
Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award 2017 Golden Globes

Still in the same day, Yoo Ah In posted Steven Yeun coffee truck banner gifted from Yeun’s DC fans in “Burning” film location, while we can see Yeun looking in the mirror 😀

The fan banner reads:

Does the coffee taste good?

Yoo Ah In wrote a caption as an answer to Steven’s fans: “(The coffee) tastes delicious @steveyeun”

Steven Yeun dropped an emoticon in Yoo Ah In’s instagram post with 😭, feeling touched by the fans gift and Yoo Ah In’s post, and Yoo Ah In replied him with: “@steveyeun 🙃

O em gee… stop being super adorable you two! They’ve become good buddies for sure~^^

Anyways, the coffee truck company mentioned in its instagram that Yoo Ah In ordered Jujube Tea before he was heading home ^^

November 16 – Yoo Ah In was using Animoji from iPhone X to call his hairstylist-friend with creepy sound: “I like you. Come here quick!” 😂

His friend’s caption reads: “Love call (feat @uhmhongsik)”
And then Yoo Ah In dropped the comment: “Come here quick!”

LOL, trying a new app it seems!

November 18 – Early in the morning, Yoo Ah In posted the gloomy sky from his window. No caption.

November 18 – After Ainese sent their support to Yoo Ah In and “Burning” film crews last October, DC Yoo Ah In Gallery held the “Burning Film Support Project” too this month. Yoo Ah In and all the film crews were gifted with luxurious lunch and dinner buffets in a huge tent, and a barbecue outside the tent in Paju. They also sent the food truck, snack truck, coffee truck, and goodie bags to all the crews!

The filming took place in Paju, near the North Korea’s border (40 km from Seoul and next to North Korea), which is superrrr cold~ even colder in winter compare to other places in South Korea. It’s very cold and below zero temperature all day long. According to DC, they readjusted the support date several times due to the changes in filming schedule, which means they had to rearrange the schedule with the catering company, the food truck company, the film production and Yoo Ah In’s agency for several times as well, which really really took a lot of efforts and time! Since the date changed quite many times, fans had to reprint the cards, stickers and banners which contained the project date, which have been glued on all the gifts, all over again and again and again. Noooo! But it was all worth it! Check all these pretty and delicious, mouth-watering food out brought by fans to “Burning” team~~

The food trucks, snack and coffee truck were set up near the shooting site, and they served the crews from early morning till sunset. One of the banner reads: “I cheer for Burning hot-heartedly”. The food truck company, Coffee Pong, posted their support in two instagram posts. Slide to the right to see more pictures~

In the first post, November 19, Coffee Pong wrote the caption:

Actor Yoo Ah In’s ‘Burning’ film support~ 💕
Did you feel so much cold today ~?
We felt very cold too ~ 😢
But in this cold weather, we could still enjoy the finest buffet, Coffee Pong coffee, beverages, fortune cookies, homemade cookies and lighter gifts. Who have prepared such an endless support ~ ??
It is~ DC Yoo Ah In Gallery fans ~ 🤗
You’ve prepared a passionate support to even sent many photos [Yoo Ah In’s photos for the table and trucks’ accessories]

Thanks for your full and generous preparation until the end of shooting~~ 👏
You’ve worked hard, everyone~ !!

In the second post, November 20, Coffee Pong wrote the caption:

Even in the cold weather, DC Yoo Ah In Gallery fans were really excited and passionate about the ‘Burning’ movie support~ 🤗
DC Yoo Ah In Gallery fans have prepared the best buffet~ !!
It feels like a business trip with a real hotel buffet.
From the fresh petals on the lunch tables to the steaks which were cooked directly on the spot, you gave us a generous buffet~ 👍👍
From a buffet, snack pouch, Coffee Pong coffee, coffee tea, fortune cookies, homemade cookies, to the lighter souvenirs, DC Yoo Ah In Gallery fans have provided endless support with big heart~👏
Oh, the lighter souvenir burns hot like the ‘Burning’ movie title.
The souvenir was made with prayers that the movie will be a big hit.
Even in the cold weather, the support for actor Yoo Ah In never cooled down~!!
Everyone, you’ve been through an unusual amount of trouble (so thank you)~🙇

DC fans shared interesting story from “Burning Movie Support Project”:

Filming took longer than the schedule. As time went by, they began feeling nervous because the catering company had a dinner reservation in another place. In addition, they’ve gotten delayed a few times for “Burning” project until that day.

Finally, the crews came from the filming site around 2 pm. Yoo Ah In came by his own car. He opened the window and greeted the catering staff first with, ‘Annyeonghaseyo’. But they didn’t hear him at all. So, he talked again, “Greetings from here”, and they were startled and laughed 😀

Then, Yoo Ah In got down the car and said, regretfully, “You’ve been through a lot of troubles”. It’s obvious that he knew about their hardships due to the delays, and he was worried too because they kept pushing the date. Aww! The catering team, who were super worried previously, turned to superr merry after seeing him and hearing his kind words!

Inside the catering tent, Yoo Ah In admired the flowers on the table, and when he looked at the buffet menu he said, “Wah~ oysters!”, and ate them a lot ^^

After lunch, everyone went back to the site to resume the shooting. Yoo Ah In walked toward the fans’ representatives to say thanks and then he signed their banners. He wrote a witty message as a reply to the fans banner. His message reads: “Do you want to get burned together?” (Oooh, sure we do, Master Sik!)

When they asked him to pose for a ‘certification’ shot (a proof-shot), Yoo Ah In teased them at first, “No, I can’t give you a certification” 😀 Teehee! And then he said, “I wanna take a selfie!”. He took the fan’s cellphone and really snapped his own selfies! Aww~~! Then, he picked the best photo (according to his goofball’s side) and gave it to fans, saying, “I like this one” 😀

supah goofball!

November 18 – Later in the evening, Yoo Ah In posted “We are The World” lyrics. This was the day when he replied some nasty zucchini comments at twitter.

His caption reads:

My father told me just enjoy your life #together #michaeljackson

Can’t tell whether he was referring to his own dad, or once again Director Lee Chang Dong, though 🙂

November 19 – Yoo Ah In replied to a fan’s comment in the “We are the World” post~

n.e.k17: Receiving and sending you “Imagine”^^ Don’t ask why. Nothing special.

Yoo Ah In: I didn’t ask and I don’t imagine. Already knew it -one.

Yoo Ah In: @hongsick 😘

Dunno why he kissed himself, but maybe he just forgot to erase his own name when hitting the reply button… or he just loved himself :p

The commenter wrote “Nothing special” with “그냥 그래”, and Yoo Ah In replied by referring to the song “Gettin’ By”/”그냥 그래” by ONE (원/Jung Jaewon), a Korean rapper from YG who’s debuting July 2017 with single “ONE DAY”. Some of it lyrics said: ‘How are you doing these days? At these typical questions, I have typical answers. I already knew.’

In the same day, actor Song Kang Ho sent a coffee truck to Yoo Ah In, director Lee Chang Dong, and Burning Film crews today 🙂 How nice!

Song Kang Ho acted alongside Yoo Ah In in Sado (The Throne), and worked together with “Burning” director Lee Chang Dong as well in “Secret Sunshine”.

November 19 – “Six Flying Dragons” to broadcast in Japan for the 2nd time, start from December 14! Six Flying Dragons first broadcast in Japan last July through Mnet Japan, and it seems they haven’t had enough of it ^^

November 20 – Yoo Ah In once again was having fun using Animoji from his new iPhone X  😀 Watch what wisdom this puppy is conveying~

His caption: 🐶

November 20 – After a long long while, Yoo Ah In posted his handsome face again in a video!

He wrote a mysterious caption:

The show of my life
𝖇𝖔𝖞𝖘 𝖈𝖆𝖓’𝖙 𝖈𝖗𝖞
coming in time.

And next, he did the live broadcast twice in a row in the car, showing his face, putting cute chick emojis here and there, and listening to the music while having some chat with the commenters (he typed the comments)! He took the photo of his own phone screen at the end of his live broadcast too!

The music tracks playing in the background are: “Boys Can’t Cry” from his new favorite hip hop band STXXCH, and a song that he mentioned as “Only You”. Check out his first live clips here and here. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find anyone recorded his second live broadcast. And he deleted it too soon :p

He replied some questions and put his own comments here and there. But, since there were so many people watching him live and threw him questions altogether, his replies turned to some random comments without clear context. Only one thing that we could fathom: when someone asked what’s the song that he was playing, he replied, “Only You”.

These are the translations on some of his random comments during live:

🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣
Only You [he replied someone who asked the title of the song]
Hehehehe
Let’s listen together
Song request
It’s mine
I’m born to be rich [he spelled these English sentence in Hangeul: “아임 본투비 유치”]
Feel the feeling
I look at everything differently
I don’t even know. I even know nothing
I just feel
That feeling
I will go now
Bye~ [he misspelled “bye” to “hurry”, and wrote it with aegyo style :p ]
Oh my gosh
🐣
Ah~ my wrist hurts
Annyeong

Later on, he posted two clips of “Boys Can’t Cry” video teasers~

Caption:

The show of this life
𝖇𝖔𝖞𝖘 𝖈𝖆𝖓’𝖙 𝖈𝖗𝖞
coming in time.

Caption:

The show of your life
𝖇𝖔𝖞𝖘 𝖈𝖆𝖓’𝖙 𝖈𝖗𝖞
Coming in time.

The video has that kind of grunge vibe mixed with his 2011 Launch My Life reality show. We wonder how he’s gonna realize this project, since he’s now busy with more Studio Concrete’s exhibitions and “Sovereign Default” movie shooting. Up until now, we haven’t heard any follow-up yet on Boys Can’t Cry. All the teasers pique our curiosity, but it seems we’re gonna wait for a while until we see the full BCC project~^^
