BURNING wins Best Director at 2019 Asian Film Awards, coming to Netflix in April + more international schedule
More good news for BURNING fans~^^
►Director Lee Chang Dong won Best Director at the 13th Asian Film Awards. The film got eight nominations, but it only left the ceremony with one prize for Best Director. However, Lee also received a Lifetime Achievement award.
In his acceptance speech on March 17, Lee stated that “A lifetime achievement award is a heavy responsibility. I asked myself whether I deserve this award, what I have achieved and how valuable it is to the audience and the filmmakers. In that respect, I still have a long way to go and a lot of work to do. I understand this award as a sign that I should work harder.”
Yoo Ah In, the nominee for Best Actor, was not lucky yet, as the award went to “The Blood of Wolves” star Yakusho Kōji from Japan. Don’t worry, he’ll get the award next time!
►BURNING is coming to home theater this month, finally. The film is available on Blu-ray and DVD since March 5, as well. You can order via Amazon.
►Surprise! BURNING is coming to Netflix on April 29, Netflix announced earlier today. Sooo many people are ecstatic with the news. The announcement has already got over 1K retweets in less than 24 hours!

And last but not least, BURNING will be screening at the 43rd Hong Kong International Film Festival on March 20th, 7:30 pm, at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The screening is followed by a dialogue with Lee Chang Dong and co-writer Oh Jung Mi. More information: here.
It’s almost a year since the film premiered in Cannes, and BURNING is still the movie buffs’ darling. It even has become the twitter memes inspiration! 😀
Lee Chang-dong went and made a masterpiece worthy of comparison to Vertigo and Mulholland Dr. And now that BURNING is available for home viewing, I fucked around and crammed my dank Burning memes into a #Twitter #Moment.
